Liberté d’oppression

Liberté d’oppression is a citizen collective, led by MNA Catherine Dorion and Federal MP Joël Lightbound. The collective is committed to defending the freedom of expression of all citizens by speaking out against bullying, disinformation and hate speech in the media.

The project

The Molotov Communication team is proud to have participated in the ideation, design and roll out of the Liberté d’oppression campaign aimed at ending bullying by the media and promoting freedom of expression in Quebec.

We supported the collective from A to Z: campaign website, visual identity and graphics, social media strategy, content production and communication plan.

The media launch organized by our public relations experts was impeccable, attracted many journalists and obtained excellent media coverage all across Quebec. The initiative even caused a stir from across the pond, when Catherine Dorion was invited to give an interview to the renowned French newspaper Le Monde.

With just a few hundred dollars in advertising and our brilliant roll out strategy, the collective amassed over 10,000 signatures in less than a week via the campaign microsite. Nearly 30 personalities, including Ghislain Picard, chief of the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec and Labrador, Jay du Temple, Safia Nolin and Alexandre Taillefer supported the campaign and signed the declaration for a safer media climate in Quebec.
